After a several month gestation period (we are just volunteers), in the coming days we will present the SORCE Bike Club’s all new web site! Almost ready to make the switch.

Our old site using Joomla programming language has been completely redone under Square Space. Jake Johnstone of Pacific West Web-Design was instrumental in setting up the new site, transferring all our legacy posts over, and giving us a helping hand on how to post!

We think the Greek Gods of weather Theoi Meteoroi and Poseidon must still be arguing with their boss Zeus about the weather program for the JunkYard Cross CX Race. They just keep messing it up and dumping rain on us. But Helios intervened and gave us sunshine for the afternoon!  The Red Racer Beer Garden was full of lively spectators, on course racers stopped by for a refreshment, and CX racing was at full form!  All was forgiven.

191 racers took to the new extended course with a lot more forest single track, technical sections, and whoopie swerving fun! The morning races experienced some drizzle and the ground was still mostly firm. By the afternoon the sun came out but with the course now saturated, turned into the best muddy CX conditions for the Elite racers! The Bond Training Mud Wall was again behaving true to form - muddy! 

18 kids took to the field on the Mini Course sponsored by the LMCX series. 3 raced on the shortened main course for a couple laps. Some of the technical sections were included and they were ridden with confidence. Well done!

For over 10 years running, Central City Brewers and Distillers have sponsored the Red Racer JunkYard Cross and again this year provided the beverage, tents and banners for the beer garden. Sales Manager Kashrell Lawrence presented beer prizes to the afternoon podium. THANK YOU!

We again had swag draw prizes in great supply from our many sponsors and supporters. Special thank you to Easton Cycling, BC Bike Race, The Bike Zone, and Crank It Sports - SOX Footwear for the great prizes. Double R Rentals supplied the fencing, tables, chairs, and other gear we can't live without. Physiomoves Physiotherapy for onsite medical support. Drew Nelson from the Thrashers for his excellent sound system. Our MC's Eric Harvey and Josh Weiss were outstanding with their live racing reports, great commentary and lively banter. THANK YOU ALL, and the hard work of the SORCE Team and volunteers.

The Red Racer JunkYard Cross CX Race for 2025 is upon us!

Another perfect weather day for the first CX race of the season at the Delta Watershed Park. SORCE Bike Club's grass routes races are a great way to get the legs and spirits juiced up for the Lower Mainland CX Series. The Cap's South Shore Cycle Fiver CX Race had 50 racers take to the field in a mass start.

Using Webscorer for registration, timing and posting final results took a major hit and moments of panic for us. With Webscorer when you press the "start" button, all the racers bibs pop up on the screen to be able to check each racer as they lap. Well at the start this time, no racer bibs showed up on the screen and when I attempted to restart as one can do, the race dissappeared from the app!  Nothing, zip, nada, PANIC!

We switched to paper, pen, and iPhone timer mode with 3 of us either calling bib numbers or jotting down results. As the laps were less than 5 minutes with 50 racers, you can quickly surmise that it was hectic in the timing tent! Only final times were recored for the podium as follows;

Beginner Women: 4 laps, 1st Mika Laulainen 21:55, 2nd Jovanna Lowe 23:55     Beginner Men: 4 laps, 1st Darren Lowe 22:53, 2nd Matt Hoffman 23:44, 3rd Steve Greenaway 24:25, 4th Tizaan Bill  24:40.  Apologies to Steve as we awarded Tizaan 3rd, but Steve came 3rd.

Intermediate Women: 6 laps, 1st Kelsey MacDonald 33:48, 2nd Anne Ouellet 34:35, 3rd 5 laps Beatrix Maraun. Apologies to the podium as we awarded Beatrix 1st.     Intermediate Men: 7 laps, 1st Peter Lok 34:00, 2nd Shane Tyson 34:37, 3rd Alessandro Ferrari 35:30
